About the Appeal

The World Health Organisation believes that there are over 1 billion people worldwide living with disabilities. The real figure is likely to be much higher, as in many remote and impoverished communities, disabled children are not formally registered or in some cases, even recognised. In many communities around the world, there is a huge stigma and lack of accurate information around disability, based on superstition, fear or a lack of knowledge. It often means that people with disabilities are not supported in the right way, leaving them dependent on others and often isolated from society. Wheelchairs can go a huge way in promoting independence, dignity and freedom, helping those with disabilities to truly thrive.

At Children of Adam, we are providing wheelchairs to impoverished communities, helping those with disabilities develop a freedom of movement. We know that wheelchairs can help people access essential services like doctors, shops and schools, while also promoting social connection and support. Wheelchairs help people stay connected and can also help people access jobs and the market, enabling them to support themselves and their families. Without a wheelchair, a person with disabilities is often fully dependent on others, creating a deepening sense of hopelessness and isolation. By donating a wheelchair today, you can help support a person with disabilities, uplift a family and inspire an entire community. Donate now.
