Lebanon is the largest host of Syrian refugees, offering safety and refuge to over 1.5 million Syrian refugees fleeing war. It’s own population of 2 million is struggling with severe poverty, unemployment, inflation and economic instability. As a result, both Lebanese communities and Syrian refugee families are facing hunger due to a lack of food, poverty, a lack of access to clean water, healthcare, and employment opportunities. These challenges are also causing an increase in tensions between Lebanese and Syrian communities, resulting in discrimination, ill sentiments, and challenging behaviours. Access to food is a major concern, affecting the health and wellbeing of populations and causing malnutrition among children. The situation was worsened by Covid-19.
