When a health crisis strikes, whether it’s an illness, a broken bone or an urgent childbirth, immediate access to a health facility is essential. Getting to a doctor on time means that the right medical attention can be provided, helping to save lives and prevent further infection or illness. However, for many impoverished families and remote communities, accessing a healthcare facility is very difficult. Many people lack the funds to be able to organise transport, making things too late. Hospitals in remote communities are often simple and lack infrastructure. Many do not have ambulances, leaving them unable to reach out to those most in need. At Children of Adam, we’re providing ambulances to impoverished communities.
Ambulances help us ensure that everyone has access to quality healthcare, regardless of their location and financial circumstances. Without urgent medical attention, sometimes a relatively simple medical emergency, such as something that requires a blood transfusion, stitches, or medicines, could become fatal. As a result of a lack of access to healthcare services, thousands of women are dying in childbirth from preventable or treatable causes; babies are dying without urgent medical care, and infections are spreading.
