Beginning in the name of Allah Bismillah ir rahman ir raheem We begin everything with Bismillah, in the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Benevolent.

Bismillah blog  Beginning in the name of Allah  Bismillah ir rahman ir raheem   We begin everything with Bismillah, in the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Benevolent.

This helps us to remember that everything we do is for His sake, and only possible due to Allah’s will and mercy.    By saying, ‘Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem’ الرَّحِيْمِ الرَّحْمٰنِ اللهِ بِسْمِ (meaning, “In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful”), before we begin anything, we are consciously asking Allah to be with us during the action that we are about to begin.   And so this year, we invite you to consciously begin with Allah. Every act of charity, every good deed, and every kind action, is for the sake of Allah. So we take His (swt) beautiful name, fully trusting Him, and in hopes of the beauty of His reward.

Seeking Allah’s blessings   Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said:   “Every important word or matter that does not being with remembrance of Allah is maimed.”    This shows us that without beginning in Allah’s name, we put ourself at risk of not having Allah’s blessings and goodness. Therefore, saying Bismillah helps us to seek Allah’s blessings and His help so our deeds are accepted, and actions are fruitful   Renewing our intentions   It is narrated on the authority of Amirul Mu’minin, Abu Hafs ‘Umar bin al-Khattab, radiyallahu ‘anhu, who said:    I heard the Messenger of Allah, sallallahu ‘alayhi wasallam, say:  “Actions are (judged) by motives (niyyah), so each man will have what he intended. Thus, he whose migration (hijrah) was to Allah and His Messenger, his migration is to Allah and His Messenger; but he whose migration was for some worldly thing he might gain, or for a wife he might marry, his migration is to that for which he migrated.” [Al-Bukhari & Muslim]   By saying Bismillah, we remind ourselves of the importance of Allah (swt) in our lives, and helps us to remember that nothing is possible without Him (swt).

Our sustenance, futures and akhirah lie with Allah alone, and so by placing Him (swt) at the heart of everything, we continue to renew our intention to please Him (swt).
