Laylatul Qadr 2026: The Night of Power
Laylatul Qadr is the blessed night in Ramadan when the Qur’an was first revealed. Worship on this night is “better than a thousand months” (Qur’an 97:3). Muslims seek it in the last ten nights, especially the odd nights.
Because Islamic months begin with local moon-sighting, exact dates vary by community. In the UK, Ramadan 2026 is expected to begin around 18 February 2026; if so, the likely odd nights are the evenings of 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 March 2026. Some calendars list 15 March as the 27th night; others list 16 March
Aisha reported: “If I recognise Laylatul Qadr, what should I supplicate?” The Prophet ﷺ replied:
Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibbul ‘afwa fa‘fu ‘anni
“O Allah, You are Most Forgiving and love to forgive, so forgive me.”
Increase night prayer and Qur’an recitation
Make du‘a abundantly and seek forgiveness
Give Sadaqah and support those in need
Maintain the effort across all last ten nights, especially the odd nights (based on sahih hadith).
Your Sadaqah can provide food packs, clean water and medical support for families in need. If you want to “catch” every odd night, split your donation across the last ten nights.
“We have indeed revealed this in the ‘Night of Power’. And what will explain to you what the night of power is? The Night of Power is better than a thousand months. Therein come down The Angels and the Spirit by Allah’s permission, on every errand. “Peace!…This until the rise of Morn!”
-Surah Al-Qadr
The Night of Power occurs in Ramadan’s 10 final odd nights. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised the believers to:
“Seek Laylat al-Qadr in the odd-numbered nights of the last ten nights.” [Bukhari, 4/259]
