Muharram marks the beginning of a new Islamic year. It is one of the most blessed months in the
Islamic calendar and an opportunity to increase in worship, fasting and charity. “The best fasting
after Ramadan is the month of Allah, Muharram.” (Sahih Muslim)
As we reflect on the blessings Allah has given us, many families continue to struggle with hunger,
poverty and lack of clean water. Your generosity can help change that.
Ashura falls on the 10th day of Muharram and is one of the most significant days of the Islamic
year. It commemorates the day Allah saved Prophet Musa (AS) and the Children of Israel from
Pharaoh. The Prophet (pbuh) fasted on this day and encouraged his followers to do the same.
