Maternal & Child Health
In Pakistan, 400,000 babies die each year before their first birthday. Another 14,000 women lose their lives during childbirth or pregnancy complications.
Why?
A lack of access to quality healthcare—driven by poverty and distance—is one of the leading causes.
Many pregnant women never receive formal medical care. Instead, they rely on traditional birth attendants who lack medical training, equipment, and essential medications. These births often take place in unsanitary conditions, increasing the risk of infections. Untreated, these infections can be fatal.
If complications arise, such as excessive bleeding, these midwives are unable to respond effectively. Tragically, this often results in the death of the mother, her baby, or both.
In hospitals, the story is different. Doctors can anticipate complications and act quickly. Infections can be treated. Lives can be saved.
At Children of Adam, we are committed to changing this reality.
We’re improving local medical facilities so mothers and babies can access the care they desperately need. We’re working within communities to raise awareness, encouraging more women to choose hospitals for childbirth. And we’re training traditional midwives, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to provide safer, more hygienic care.
Together, we can save lives.
